Hi, I’m Erick Renteria, the founder of TurfMeUp.
TurfMeUp started in 2020 as a personal project at my own house. I was simply trying to build a better play area for my kids.
Keeping our natural grass alive was a constant headache. Between the Texas heat, rocky soil, and kids running around, I was spending more time maintaining the yard than actually enjoying it with my family.
When I finally installed artificial turf, everything changed. Instead of working on the grass every weekend, I was outside playing with my kids. We finally had a space we could walk out the back door and enjoy together.
That experience is why I started TurfMeUp. I wanted to help other families spend less time worrying about their yard and more time enjoying it.
Why I Do This Differently
Turf is only as good as what’s underneath it: the grading, drainage, and base. That’s where my background outside of TurfMeUp makes a difference.
I also run a home construction business focused on new builds and remodels here in Texas, and I have years of experience in real estate investing. That means I look beyond how a yard looks on day one. I think about drainage, soil, water flow, and how the project works with the rest of your property.
Before that, I spent over a decade in quality assurance and software engineering, working with companies like IBM and Dell. That experience taught me to plan carefully, test things properly, pay attention to details, and always think about the user experience. I bring that same mindset to every outdoor space we design.
